MVHS Curriculum

The following courses are offered at Mount View High School for grades 9-12. If you are interested in a course that isn’t listed, talk with your counselor or principal about alternate delivery solutions.

English: English 9, 10, 11, 12, Speech/Oral Communication, Creative Writing, Yearbook

Math: Algebra Support, Algebra I, Geometry, Applied Geometry, Algebra II, Conceptual Math, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, College Readiness Math

Science: Physical Science, Biology, Conceptual Biology, Chemistry, Conceptual Chemistry, Physics, Conceptual Physics, Human Anatomy

Social Sciences: World History to 1900, US History to 1900, 20-21st Century, Civics/Government, Psychology, Sociology, Geography

Foreign Language: French I, II, Spanish I, II

Fine Arts: Art I, II, III, IV, Band I, II, III, IV, Photography, Music Composition and Theory, Music Appreciation

Health/PE: Health, Physical Education, Life Fitness, Driver’s Education

Family and Consumer Science: Human Services, Development and Relationships, Parenting, STEPS

Technology: Basic Computer, Career Prep, Library Skills

Career Technical Center Programs: Auto Technology, Business, Carpentry, Computer Technology, Electrical Technology, Food Service (PROSTART), Health Occupations, Machine Shop, and Welding.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses: English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Environmental Science, US Government (All AP courses are graded on a weighted scale.)

Scholar’s Track

All students are encouraged to participate in the Scholar’s Track.

To be eligible for Valedictorian, Salutatorian, or High Honors designation at graduation, you must have at least a 3.75 GPA, complete two AP courses (English and Math OR Science), and fulfill the requirements for the professional pathway. The valedictorian will be the candidate with the highest overall GPA who completed all requirements stated above and is a PROMISE Scholar. The salutatorian will be the candidate with the second highest overall GPA who completed all requirements stated above and is a PROMISE Scholar.

To be eligible for Honors designation at graduation, you must have an overall GPA of at least 3.5 and meet all requirements for graduation.
