The Council for America’s First Freedom announces the 16th annual First Freedom Student Competition. This national essay contest offers 9th – 12th grade students an opportunity to compete for a $3,000, $1,500 and $750 award, as they examine the First Amendment and the history and relevance of religious freedom in America and the world today.

Applications for the Ron Brown Scholar Program are available in Ms. Miller’s office. The scholarship is awarded to “academically talented, highly motivated African American students who are currently seniors in high school and plan to pursue undergraduate degrees full-time.”
The early-postmark deadline is November 1, 2008 and the final deadline is January 9, 2009.

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS) has opened online scholarship applications. Applications must be submitted online by January 12, 2009.
